Dana Axle Housing Repair

Dana Axle Housing Repair

We can repair Dana 60, 70, and Dana 80 with the carrier-bearing race that spins in the housing.

Dana differentials are common for the carrier bearings spinning in the housing and causing the bearing to lose its preload. Once this happens the axle housing is usually damaged and can not be reused. As you can see in the pictures, the heavy wear that occurs and how it will not allow proper bearing preload to be achieved when rebuilding these axles.

Until now, we would had to scrap these housings with spun bearing surfaces and find a replacement. We now have the machine tooling designed specifically for the dana 60, 70, and 80 series to properly machine these housings so they can be reused.

After the machining process is complete, we are left with a perfectly aligned bearing race surface that can now be assembled with the confidence that the carrier bearings will be preloaded evenly and secured properly during the differential rebuild. We also will check the bearing caps for proper preload as well and machine when necessary.

This is a service we can provide as a stand-alone repair on your axle housing or we can repair it as part of a full differential rebuild as well.
